Asheville's First Citizens' Bank is a bank that I can recommend because I use it personally. What I like about it more than all the modern digital phone and internet conveniences that are now apropos in the banking industry, is the customer service First Citizens' offers. Instead of endless and confusing phone menus, I can call and directly speak to a real person who I know... a real person in the very bank that I do my business. That's customer service the way it used to be.
The bigger international banks have their place, I'm assured, but there's nothing like talking to a real person who lives in the same town as you do. With First Citizens', their customer service stays "local." You're not placed on hold as the bank telephony routes you to some foreign-based "customer service" in a place far from where you do your banking. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I take some piece of mind in all of that! They know what I know.... it's all about service!
