Asheville's Regional Airport is a Hometown friendly safe and secure airport, extremely well situated between Asheville and Hendersonville, NC. and parallels Interstate 26 for easy and quick access. It is medium size airline hub with great connections to other larger cities, accommodating four airlines including Delta, U.S. Airways, Continental, Northwest, as well as a number of FBO (Fixed Base Operators) including Charter and Private Jet and Helicopter services. Believe you me, this is a great little airport! Small enough so as not to be a hassle in this security-conscious world, but big enough to offer all the right amenities. It makes Asheville a great place to live and work because it's easy to fly into, and easy from which to become quickly and conveniently connected to larger cities nationally and internationally. Moreover, it's always such a welcome to come back to, since it's rarely ever really crowded!
The Asheville Airport In 1979, the Asheville Regional Airport Authority Board was established under North Carolina Statutes by Buncombe County and the City of Asheville to maintain, operate, regulate and improve the airport while enhancing the economy of the region. Since its creation, the Authority has been successful in the development and operation of the airport and has matured into a fully self-sustaining enterprise requiring no local financial assistance for its operations, maintenance or capital programs. The Board is comprised of seven members. Three are appointed by the Asheville City Council, three by Buncombe County Board of Commissioners, and the seventh is appointed by the six as the At-Large member. Authority meetings are currently held on the second Friday of the month and are open to the public.
